greatest hits, vol. 2

i'm too lazy/tired to pull out a full update. this whole week has just been crazy. hopefully i'll be able to write about it once i get pics. as for now, here's my "greatest hits, vol.2" from my old xanga..

this one is about honors language arts. quite possibly the easiest class i've ever taken.. one of our projects was every week we had to write 2 papers about a certain period of your life. one day, i hope to combine all of them and release an autobiography. it will be entitled. "superstrongjohn. not quite super. not quite strong. not even named john. the unedited and completely biased tellings of the shortcomings and failures of a little chinese boy..."
would you buy my book?!

anyways, back to my memory book...
03.02.05: honors language arts

so in lang. arts, we have to do this "memory book" thing. we have to write stupid entries about topics such as "my first days of school" and "where i used to live." they are possbly the most retarded thigns ive ever had to do. its what i get for being to late to sign up for ap lang. arts. o well, they are easy grades, and i generally spend about 10 minutes per topic. here are my latest.

I Grew Up Here

As a child I lived in Ohio and Georgia. Life in Ohio was much different from Georgia. For instance, the winters were much colder and the summers, not so blistering. In Ohio, I was still learning English and did not make many friends. I generally stayed home playing with my Lego’s. There was a neighborhood playground that I would go to frequently. It was quiet entertaining swinging alone in the playground watching the other kids play amongst themselves laughing at the loner on the swing.
Near our apartment complex there was a pond. In this pond was numerous water fowl. Ducks, geese, and swans swam together in this one pond. My family and I would go there and feed the birds. They were not frightened by humans and would eat bread from our hands. It was fun.It was very cold in Ohio. It snowed very often in the winter. I liked playing in the snow. It was fun. I made snow men and walked in the snow alone, due to my lack of friends. After a few years of Ohio, my family moved to Georgia.
I enjoyed living in Georgia. The summers were much warmer and the winters less harsh. However, the thought of making snowmen was completely destroyed due to the fact that it never snowed. Our apartment complex had a neighborhood pool. There I would spend many days swimming and playing, also alone. That was fun as well. All in all, I have enjoyed living in Ohio and Georgia.

Hide and Seek

As I child, I had few friends. However, this did not limit the amount of games I played. My favorite toys as a child were Lego’s. They were very fun. Why, you ask? Because you can play by yourself and do not need friends. Instead of going outside to socialize and engage in recreational activities with the other children, I stayed home, much like a recluse. A hermit, if you will. I would stay at home all day building space ships and buildings with these Lego’s. It was fun.

I also enjoyed puzzles as a child. Much like Lego’s, the best part of puzzles was due to the fact that they too could be enjoyed alone. My favorite puzzle was a dinosaur puzzle of a T-Rex. I greatly enjoyed puzzles as a child. They were fun.

When I grew up, I greatly enjoyed playing basketball. Having no friends, however, hindered my ability to thoroughly enjoy the sport. Therefore, I asked for the companionship of Mr. Wang. He spent numerous hours shooting hoops with me when no one else would. He was my first real friend. I enjoyed playing basketball with Mr. Wang. It was fun.

During my childhood, I was commonly regarded as a nerd. A geek, if you will. I loved math and would spend numerous hours solving math problems that Mr. Wang made up for me. What a friend! Solving math problems was like a game to me. The challenge would be to try to solve each problem as fast as possible without making any mistakes. However, failure in this game resulted in very harsh consequences, including beatings from Mr. and or Mrs. Wang. Maybe he was not as good a friend as I thought he was.

man, this entry was a huge hit. 20 comments and 34 eprops!

03.23.05: 2nd memory book entry

Middle school

Middle School was a big step from elementary school. I went to Trickum middle school all three years. It felt good not having to switch schools every one and a half years. It was during middle school that I was placed in the accelerated math class. Finally acknowledged for the genius that I was, I was placed in a class of my equals; James Ren, Henry Xu, Lucas Bermudez, Cheng Chen (a.k.a Leo Chen), and James Reardon. My passion for math was quickly dissipated, however, due to the fact that I, well, hated doing work.

As I grew from a child into a man, I began the coming of age period of adolescence. I had reached puberty, but had no clue as to what the bodily changes in me were doing. Most children, as they reach puberty, become increasingly fascinated with the opposite sex. I, however, had no such interest in females. I did however, find my one and only true passion during this time: Pokemon.

I still remember the wonderful hours I spent playing my game boy, learning dueling strategies, collecting and trading cards. My other math geeks (I had finally made friends, although few, during this time) and I played to our hearts content, squealing and giggling in delight as each of us mastered the game. My utterly boring and meaningful life was made full of color as the Game Boy Color came out. I quickly asked my father for one and upon receiving it began my quest to catch them all.

i was going to keep writing, but then i realized i had reached a page. the end.

Movies

As I child-geek, I did not frequent the movie theaters. However, I do remember my favorite movie as a child. It was the Lion King. I remember the week it came out in theaters. A classmate of mine had his birthday party that week and invited me to go to the party and then go to the theaters to watch it. Let it be known, however, that the only reason I was invited to this party was because the boy’s mother made him invite everyone. Remember, I did not have friends at this time. Pardon, I digress.

The Lion King opened my eyes. Never before had I seen such a wonderful movie. Simba was my hero. I remember this doll of Simba I got in a McDonalds happy meal. That meal made me very happy. The wonderfully woven tale of a young lion cub fighting to claim his kingdom was awe-inspiring. I remember every scene so clearly.

The wildebeest scene made me jump from my seat in fright. The mere thought of Simba in trouble was enough to nearly wet my childish bladder. I wept unashamedly as Mufasa sacrificed himself for Simba. I despised Scar with a passion as he meddled in the circle of life and cheered mightily as Simba became the king he was born to be.

Also the songs in the Lion King were very good. “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” is the all-time greatest love song ever. “The Circle of Life” was a very good song also. “Hakuna Matata” was also a very good song. A very good song from that movie was “I Can’t Wait to be King.”

hmm, today was a pretty good day. i got my econ test back. got an 82. which is good b/c i didnt study at all, and didnt listen in class. its hard to listen when u have a cutie like josh behind you. anyways the two girls i cheated off of got a 67 and a 76. i dont think they like me very much anymore....

man, i miss high school so much. i loved cheating off people and getting better grades than them. that never happened at tech. in fact, i just never really got better grades than anybody at tech. sigh.
anyways, work has been draining and taking away my blogging time. hopefully i'll be in the mood to write about the past week soon. until then, have a super sunday.
